Rover, the next album by Minta & The Brook Trout is being released in installments over the course of a year
It will be the band’s fifth full-length. In so many cassettes, compact discs, vinyls and zeros and ones there are dozens of songs: almost all of them short, almost all of them filled of more or less profound considerations, almost all of them – with honorable exceptions – written by Francisca Cortesão, or Minta.
They are songs about broken or recovering hearts – Falcon’, ‘Neighbourhood’ -, about the housing market – ‘Colin Call’, ‘The Fake Outdoors’ – or just about trying to breathe – ‘I Can’t Handle The Summer’, ‘Matador’.
“Cantaloupe”,“Random Information” and“Please Make Room For Me Please”, a duet with American singer Shelley Short, are already known from her forthcoming album Rover.
The name Minta & The Brook Trout came about in 2009 as a solo project grew into a band, at the heart of which are the aforementioned songs and Mariana Ricardo’s precise arrangements.
In order of arrival, today they are: Francisca Cortesão (vocals, guitars), Mariana Ricardo (bass, vocals), Margarida Campelo (keyboards, vocals), Tomás Sousa (drums and percussions, vocals) and Afonso Cabral (guitars, keyboards, vocals).
